Visiting Singapore???? Do as the Singaporeans do !!
Having spent some time here in Singapore, i too learnt a few things about this beautiful country. Sharing it as my responsibility. Check this before you add it to your bucket list:
1. Drugs : No....no no....no....no....no !!
If you really want to see your loved one's again make sure you keep that joint home. Singapore has strict laws for possession of drugs.
2. Chewing Gum !!
Yes, you read that right.
The truth, as usual, is more complicated than that, but there certainly are strict rules about mastication of gums within the city limits.
3. Booze !!
Singapore doesn't allow people to drink publically from 10:30 pm to 7 am. Retail outlets such as convenience stores or supermarkets are barred from selling takeaway alcohol from 10.30pm to 7am.
4. Do not haggle !!
Singapore expects its citizens and visitors not to haggle for taxi fares.
5. Stay Active !!
You might come across Singaporeans/foreigners running at odd times. You too stay fit stay healthy and run.
6. Take a bus !!
The bus/MRT connectivity and frequency is so good that the locals prefer taking public transport and why not its cheap as well. Get an EZ-Link card and get going.
7. The attaraction !!
Universal studios, Sentosa island, Garden by the bay , The Merlion.... the list goes on. Make sure you dont miss any of these attractions.
8. City in a garden !!
As said the city in itself looks like a garden, be a part of it and keep it clean.
9. Show you moves !!
The night life of the city is as interesting as the city itself. Get on the dance floor and enjoy at the awe-inspiring party places at Clarke Quay.
10.Its taken !!
Do look out for packets of tissue paper or umbrellas before you sit down at a table in a hawker centre or coffee shop.Singaporeans have a peculiar habit of reserving their seats with these items, while they queue up for food.
11. GST !!
At the airport, before you depart, you may be able to reclaim Goods and Services Tax (GST) you’ve paid for certain items during your visit. The amount you’re entitled to reclaim can be substantial.
12. Admire !!
Admire the city and spread the word, for someone might find it helpful. I just did.
