Getting Married ? Here are some useful tips for you..

1. Know the person well.

You may be in the relationship for quiet sometime. But being in a relationship is quiet different from living with the person. Know your partner well before the marriage.

2. Talk about your past relationships, if any.

Once you know and trust each other completely, its a good idea to let each other know about your your past relationships. Rather than your partner knowing it from a different source.

3. Discuss about your future.

Talk to each other about your future like where you want to settle down, about the kids, about your financial conditions before getting into marriage.

4. Get married only when you are really ready.

Do not marry just because your parents are forcing, or you have reached a certain age, or all of your friends and cousins are getting married. Marry only when you are completely ready for it.

5. Prioritise your expenses.

Marriage requires a lot of planning. prioritise your expenses for your marriage. Spend on important things first, rather than going on a spending spree.

6. Its a good idea to split the marriage expense.

Think of the expense occurring in a modern day marriage. Managing the whole expense by the girls parents or the girl may not be feasible for them (which happens most of the time). Split the expenses if you really care.

7. Be in good terms with your in laws.

Be it an arranged marriage or a love marriage, there can be confusions between you and your partner’s parents. Better clear them out and be in good terms with them. Marriage is not the end, but just a beginning.

8. Bachelor party.

Making so many arrangements can surely get you stressed. Have fun. Host a bachelor’s party. Gather all your friends. Who knows when you can party with your friends again.

9. Say no to dowry.

Not matter what your parents say, not matter your friends or cousins take/give dowry, no matter how much you gave as dowry for you sister/s - say no to it. This should stop at some time. Be the change.

10. Respect each others cultures.

You both may be from different cultures or some traditions may be different for you and your partner. Respect the differences and your partner will respect yours.
